EXTERN and Create Local Training Initiative

Create LTI is funded by Louth Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) and sponsored by Redeemer Development Management Group (RDMG). The aim of the training programme is to provide flexible training opportunities in the community to raise competency levels of unemployed people, enhancing their skills and encouraging them to pursue additional educational opportunities and employment by using collaborative community resources and opportunities.

All trainees are supported in identifying their individual learning needs. Trainees are encouraged to develop to their maximum potential at their own pace in a supported learning environment of equality and inclusion.

This programme leads to a QQI Level 4 Major Award in Employment Skills for learners who meet the award requirements and a Training Allowance is paid to trainees throughout the course.

For future information contact: Sheila Reynolds (Co-ordinator) or Mark Larkin (Assistant Co-ordinator - 042 9328124, mobile 063244646, email: create.dlk@gmail.com

Redeemer Fitness and Wellbeing Club

Redeemer Fitness & Wellbeing Club is up and running for over 2 years. Committee members include Brendan Connolly, Peter Duffy and Pauline MaGill. We believe that depression and ill health can be helped through an active lifestyle with social interaction. We operate in the Redeemer Family Resource Centre on Tuesday and Thursday nights between 7pm and 8pm. We also go for a run on Wednesday evening, meeting from 7pm to 8pm outside the O'Hanlon Park Boxing Club. As a group we also do 5k and 10k races once a month to help local charities along the way. We encourage our members to do the Park Run on Saturday mornings at the D.K.I.T. playing fields, running 5k at your own pace. Our club has an open door policy and all are welcome, we are very proud of the fact that this service is run on a voluntary basis and is free of charge. It is our ambition to keep supporting people to take care of themselves. Sean McCann puts us all through our paces doing circuit training, running, coaching and encouraging all who are involved in his own unique way. Our wellbeing club promotes self care, people get to know one another and get active through exercise and have a bit of craic!!! If you want to beat the blues please come and join us, FREE OF CHARGE. Please contact the centre or Brendan at 086 401 8215 for more information.
